Area Sales Manager – West of England

Standen Engineering Ltd is a leading manufacturer of potato machinery, established in 1846, based in Ely, Cambridgeshire, which is sold through a dealer network and direct to the end user.

We are looking for a dedicated and self –motivated Area Sales Manager to cover the West of England, promoting our full range of products.
This is a home based position, and would suit someone living in the area; which stretches from Cheshire in the north, to Cornwall in the south, involving frequent travel across the sales area and to our head office in Ely when required.

Ideally, an agricultural background and experience of potato and root crop machinery would be beneficial, however, full product training will be provided. Also, sales training would be provided for the right candidate that has experience of this industry and is keen to pursue a career in sales. A
hands-on and flexible attitude is important, as is someone who can communicate at all levels along and someone who is happy both working alone and as part of a small friendly team.

What we require from you:

  • Identify and follow up new sales leads
  • Build long term relationships with customers offering a high level of customer support
  • Promote  the product range at shows and open days
  • Assist with demonstrations of the full range of products
  • Some service work and machine installations when required
  • Occasional overseas travel  to attend trade shows and visit suppliers
  • Highlight new product opportunities and development of the existing range

Stores Person

We require a Stores Person to join our team to assist in the operation of our extensive partsdepartment, supporting the needs of our manufacturing facility and those of our customers inthe UK and overseas. We are primarily looking for a full-time role but may consider part-time applicants.

Full-time hours are:
Monday - Thursday: 8am - 5pm
Friday: 8am - 4pm

However, you may be required to work additional hours to meet seasonal demand.

The role will be customer facing at our Ely factory, supplying parts to internal and external customers and keeping accurate records. This is a physically demanding role that involves a significant amount of manual handling.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, reliable and conscientious with basic computer knowledge, good communication skills and a willingness to work both as part of a team and individually. In-house training to meet the requirements of the role will be provided as required.

Assembly Fitter

We are looking for a full time Assembly fitter to work in our small but very busy AssemblyDepartment.

The successful candidate must be self motivated, reliable and conscientious.

The job requires, Assembling various types ofagricultural machines. A good knowledge of hydraulic and electrical assembly is a must.

Service Engineer

We are currently looking for a service Engineer to join our dedicated team.

The position is based at our Ely factory and will involve traveling nationally and internationally.

The role will include the following:

Repairing and maintaining the range of imported machinery, including Ferrari Growtech, AVR Harvesters, Baselier, Forigo, ARC bunching equipment, Simon Carrot Harvesters and VHM Box Fillers.
Also repairing & maintaining our own range of manufactured machinery.
Diagnose and repair problems with mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
Operate & Demonstrate machinery where needed.
Need to keep accurate records.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Able to communicate with a wide range of customers and colleagues.
  • Prepared to travel nationally and internationally.
  • Able to problem solve and work under pressure in sometimes challenging conditions and deadlines.
  • Experienced in working with agricultural machinery and willing to work overtime in peak farming and agricultural seasons.
  • Willing to undergo any additional training to further develop and update your skillset.
  • Good timekeeping is essential.
  • Work overtime when required, to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work individually and within a team.
